Fresh Start's Organic Red Rice: Heirloom Variety, is referred to as a wild variety of rice which has a very low grain yield. In most cases, it is referred to unhulled or partially hulled rice which has a red husk.

When it is cooked, the natural red color in the bran dyes the rest of the dish red to pink. Red Rice is rich in fiber because of the bran and the flavor is much stronger, tastier and more nutty.

Compared to brown rice, Red Rice is found to be a lot higher when in comes to carbohydrates and calories. Although it also have magnesium and a little bit of iron in it, it serves the same nutrients of that in a brown rice.
