Miss Earth will visit Negros organic farms this coming October 1 – 3 , 2010. The beauties are Miss Earth-Air 2009 Sandra Seifert, Miss Earth-Water 2006 Catherine Untalan, and Miss Earth Philippines 2010 Kris Psyche Resus.

Their highlight is to promote the importance of organic farming in contributing to food security and economic development.

Catch the Miss Earth beauties at the following schedule:

October 1:

8:00 am Penalosa Farm at Victorias City.
9:00-12:00nn Mangrove Planting and Carbin Reef at Sagay City.
12:00-1:00 Museo sang Bata for a storytelling activity and to GK Village in Sagay City.
2:00-down Natures Village at Talisay City

The beauty queens at Natures Village will be treated with an organic dinner.

At Saturday October 2,

6:30am they will visit Fresh Start Organic Farm at Silay city.
9:00am they will be at May’s Organic Garden and have storytelling for kids and lecture on organic farming for mothers.
In the afternoon they will at Melbas farm in Talisay and they will be in SM Bacolod for a storytelling activity.

On Sunday, the beautiful ladies will visit Don Salvador Benedicto town and Alter Trade Mill.

Long time ago Negros Island is known for its sugar industry, sugarcane fields from left to right, hacienderos on their feet manning the fields but as time passes by other developing country begins produce sugar at a cheaper price and the sugar industry slowly begins to drop as competition gets tough -not to mention sugar smugglers and high cost of fertilizers. Being very slow when it comes to economic progress and commonly known as the “poorest municipality” in Negros Occidental, Toboso has surprisingly thought its way to excelling in some business establishments.

Historically, Toboso is a municipality that originated way back during the Spanish regime. It was known before as a barrio of Escalante. The community expanded with the cmming immigrants from the Island of Cebu which extensively taught and help them develop fishing, agriculture and commerce. Being declared as a town separated from Escalante on July 1, 1984, Toboso has been independently seeking ways on improving their means of livelihood.
