Another upcoming event for us to look forward to this February is presented by the Philippie International Jazz festival and Jazz Society of Negros.

If you have nothing to do this February 20, why not go and watch The 1st Bacolod Jazzfest 2010 that will happen at 6:00 p.m. in the L’Fisher Roofdeck.

There are so many Jazz artist being featured. Featuring the 20 year old artist, Mishka Adams; the Jazz Volunteers; Sinosikat?, a filipino band that started September 2004 influencing the “Pinoy Soul”;  and our very own Gabe Ascalon and Nancy Brew.

Tickets are available at l’fisher hotel for Php500 pesos only. Php150 of which is consumable.

What is Jazz?

Jazz is a music genre that originated at the beginning of the 20th century. The word “jazz” began as a West Coast slang term of uncertain derivation and was first used to refer to music in Chicago in about 1915.

When was Jazz first used?

Jazz was introduced to San Francisco in 1913 by William (Spike) Slattery. It reached Chicago by 1915 but was only heard later in New York the year after. One of the first known uses of the word jazz appears in March 3, 1913, baseball article in San Francisco Bulletin by E.T. “Scoop” Gleeson.
