Trip to Eco-Garden – Eroreco, Bacolod

For those who love animals, there’s no need for you to go out of the city just to see one. There is this place located in Eroreco that house a number of zoo animals. You can even go on a tour with your class or your friends.

I was lucky enough to chaperone my daughter who is in kinder on their field trip last friday to the EcoGarden Park located near the Mission Hospital in Eroreco.

It was really accessible to the public. If you don’t have a car you can ride  your way there on a jeepney (Eroreco-Central Market). The entrance is also affordable. If you have Php15.00 you can go inside and see the animals.

When we were there, we were able to see animals of different kinds. There are birds, reptiles and the like. To name a few, there’s the peacock, the crocodile, the Philippine Eagle, the Philippine Mouse deer, a monkey.

The kids were lucky cause the caretakers got the two turtles and made them touch it. The kids got excited and was shouting while the turles are walking on the ground.

They were lucky enough to go and touch the python. But of course, they fed the snake first with chicken so that it won’t go and eat the kids. The caretakers said that it takes only once a week for the snake to be hungry and once it has eaten, it won’t bite.

For the monkey, it was kinda funny. This kind of monkey doesn’t eat banana. It only eats manggo for lunch, oatmeals during afternoon and rice during evening.

After the monkey, we went to see the birds. I learned that when birds, like the owl that we were watching, stands on it’s one foot, they are healthy. But if they mostly stand on their two feet they could be sickly.

Our day ended with a smile and memories about the trip. Although we were just there in the morning, still I was able to learn something about animals. And hopefully my kinder daughter did as well.
