Bacolaodiat 2009

The bacolod shopping center blasts last night with bands and fireworks, a sign that the bacolaodiat 2009 has kicked off. The bacolodnon joins the celebration with fellow phil-chinese as they celebrate the chinese new year.

Bacolaodiat comes from two terms “baco” for Bacolod and “laodiat” for happy celebration in chinese.

The celebration was spear headed by bacolod city’s mayor Bing Leonardia.  The mayor lead the count down to start the four day Chinese New Year celebration. The celebration started with a 2-minute fireworks display and followed up by bands and disco music.

There were also displays of different giant size chinese zodiac symbols, they were displayed along the narra streets of shopping center.
