Go Bike Pilipinas 2008

Last week November 15, 2008 the 2nd Go Bike Pilipinas was held at the Bacolod Capitol Lagoon it was a success! There
are 1024 who registered and participated, the event was sponsored by the Philippine Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism.

The aim of the Go Bike Pilipinas is for the awareness on the increase number of Diabetes cases in our country. Sen. Pia Cayetano in her behalf also speaks and supports the objective of the Go Bike Pilipinas as she herself is a sports minded and a health conscious.
The program started at 6am with a wonderful opening prayer from the owner of Dan’s Bike Shop, Dan Ramirez.

Furthermore the event also mourns with the Moraña family,. The biker Benjamin Moraña who died after being hit by a Red Ford Ranger truck two weeks before the event. The Go Bike Pilipinas also spreads out to the bikers the safety and traffic rules awareness especially when on the road.

After the ceremony, the event made the bikers tour around the city of Bacolod with the La Carlota pasalamat drum beaters.
the fun ride took around 2 hours with route from capitol lagoon, public plaza, libertad market, shopping, bata, banago then back to capitol lagoon.

The program closes with a raffle of a mountain bike frame and a closing remarks by Mayor Bing Leonardia.
